Kaleidoscope Light

The Creative Paradise large triangular casting mold produces the most interesting opportunity to make kaleidoscopic patterns in glass.  By combining opaque and clear glass, it makes a perfect back-lit display piece.  My husband wants to take it to work, and I told him he can buy it for market price just like anyone else:)

Valley View Cancer Center Art Submittal

I have completed the Inspired to Heal call to artist piece.  It took 3 1/2 weeks to finish with 8 total firings.  I have named this fused glass realism diptych panel Cherry Tree in Spring in honor of our glorious cherry trees in the back yard that have been in full bloom while I worked in the piece.

Valley View Cancer Hospital Project in Glenwood Springs

The new Valley View Cancer Center in Glenwood Springs sent a call to artists to do work for the new center.  This is a drawing of the diptych I am getting ready to start for the competition.  It will be 30" x 24" in 2 panels.  The tree will be vitrigraph stringer and the leaves and cherry tree blossoms from cut glass.  The bird will be done in frit and stringers.

The second picture is the piece in progress.  The panel on the left has been through its second firing--the panel on the right is getting ready to go into for its second firing.  So far so good.

Firebowl in Sunset

Completed the last fused bowl for A+Y Design Gallery.  This is a combed glass bowl set in black glass 2" rings with a clear base.  It was coldworked to give it that definitive edge with black and clear glass.

Mica Bowls

These two mica embellished bowls are on their way to A+Y Design Gallery in Montrose.  It took 4 firings each to get them smooth and to lay down properly but I finally got them to behave.  The gold mica is a ball slump bowl and the copper/bronze bowl is made from the new conical BE mold.  Very pleased with both--hope the gallery likes them as well.

Ahhh...the Booth Photo

It has always been a challenge trying to get a decent booth shot, but try doing it in the middle of winter when it is 25 degrees and the ground is covered in snow!  Nonetheless, Dawn Sudmeier and I were successful this week in getting the booth up and the photo taken.  Let the art show application games begin!
