WIP (Work in Progress)

 I said a while back that someday I would do a piece in my beloved Van Gogh glass.  Well, that day has come.  I am doing a southwest style mirror in Van Gogh reds, greens and copper with electric red nuggets, blood stone and copper beads.  My husband offered the array of colors (I think because we have been spending a  lot of time in the Great Basin near Utah) and it looks deep, rich and "desertie".  Believe me, photos do it no justice--you have to witness the glass in person to understand its beauty.

Pressed Flowers in Glass

Back to producing more flowers in pressed glass.  These are flowers that I pressed from my Valentine's Day floral arrangement since it is winter.  As soon as my garden starts producing again, I will press roses, columbine and lavender from the garden.  I love using natural stone as the accent pendant.

Songbirds in the Peach Orchard

I am finally ready for patina and wax.  This is an example of big things come in small packages.  Although it is only 12"x18", there are over 125 pieces, 150 yds of copper foil and 2 lbs of solder.  It took four days of cutting, 3 days foiling and 2 1/2 days soldering to get it to this point.  Needless to say, I am pooped out. It is a steal for who ever buys it. 

Amesthyst Rose

The rose panel is nearly complete. It will ultimately be bound is an 1" oak frame.

Patterns from Real Life

The picture above was taken by my sister's family and has always defined her--her avatar if you will.  She has allowed me to try and translate it into a future glass piece.  I have drawn it out in Glass Eye 2000 below it.  Please note that the actual daisy will be done in the new GST lazy-susan bevel cluster but I drew it in for scale and color.  Most of the glass selected will be either Kokomo or Armstrong glass in wispy or opalescence.  The sky will be done in blue and white baroque for texture and contrast to the elements of the earth.  I can't wait to get started on it--I have been waiting for the chance to use Kokomo glass.

Mini-Panels

An example of three mini-panels linked by chain.  There are a total of 21 glass bevels with yellow/blue streaked Armstrong glass framing the 4x6 ovals. Prettiest streaked glass I have ever worked with.

I love doing glass mosaics even though they are tedious and labor intensive.  This is a glass-on-glass mosaic that can serve as a candleholder or a coaster.  I hope to do a series of them in a holiday theme.

Prey in the Moonlight

Prey in the Moonlight now hangs in the sun porch. The piece is bordered in glass bevel and zinc came. It can be seen from the front street (a bit of free advertising). This was by far the most labor intensive piece to date. My hands are still cut and aching.

Musical Window

Musical Window is complete. Total time from start to finish (design, glass selection, cutting, leading, cementing, polishing, framing and hanging)--three to four weeks. A myriad of color is cast on the walls in the room in the afternoon. Lovely; simply lovely. The client picked out the ebony stain for the 2" oak frame which really makes the colors pop.

Grapevines

The Grapevines transom is now complete and in place. It is shown with its cousin, Palisade Peaches, in the door. They are kissing cousins--very similar in color and theme but different enough for visual interest.

Dragonflies at Sunrise

This is an 18" octagonal piece done in reverse--semi-opaque glass filling the background with clear glass defining the elements. The background is meant to resemble the dappled red/blue sky at sunrise as it intermingles with the greens of the garden. I used beveled glass for the tulip and the dragonflies to make them "pop". This is a birthday piece for a family member.

Tulips in Glass

This is a 9"x28" piece that I did for my mom for Mother's Day. I hope it brightens her room at the Forum.

Entwined Hearts

An early piece to reacquaint myself with the craft. I completed this at a workshop several months ago.
